This book was written and illustrated by the children of India, Mozambique and Portugal on the theme
of gender equality. In order to highlight gender discrimination, these three stories narrate episodes in
the lives of women and girls who are victims of unequal treatment within their homes and societies.
During the creation and after the first reading of the stories written, not coincidentally, the authors
approach the ‘subject’ at the childhood level, with narratives whose main characters are children and
tell us tales framed in family, mostly amongst siblings. We realize, therefore, that it is imperative that
the work of spreading, strengthening attitudes and behaviour change, begins early and these children
are the medium of promoting, protecting and realizing these rights, such as access to education, health,
social and cultural activities and freedom of speech, thought and expression.
